Born in 1958 in Rawtenstall, a small town in the Pennine foothills of Lancashire, Grahame Wolfenden is a wildlife artist with a design, photography and print background, working in the Midlands from 1981 onwards until moving to Scarborough, North Yorkshire in 2002.

His interest in wildlife, particularly birds, led to him taking the decision to concentrate on his long dormant skills in drawing and painting in an attempt to earn his living after being made redundant two years ago.

Working in gouaches, he uses his time as an enthusiastic birder to provide his own reference photographs as a starting point for his paintings and wherever possible backs these up with sketches from the field. He started painting seriously at the end of 2003 and his early work sold well. Motivated by this success he has sold to private collectors in Wales, the Midlands and the north of England.
